Annie Jnr
Stage Door Performing Arts Academy Ltd in association with Javaman Cafe are proud to present our season of Annie JR. at Whakatāne Little Theatre on stage until 7 August 2021.
“A really ‘feed good’ production which warmed your heart as the minutes went by and then it was over and the smile on your face remained. Great singing and acting kids.”
Our all-youth production is performed by a talented cast of 42 young people aged 7 – 18 years from across the rohe, with a youth backstage and off-stage crew teams, all supported by adult mentors.
“It’s been cool to strengthen and make new friendships. We all have the production in common and we’re like a whānau.”
Telling the story of our favourite orphan, Annie (played by Lily Isaac) – a cheeky 11-year-old with red hair, dirty knees and a smile from ear to ear! With a perfect combination of street-smarts and optimism, Annie warms the hearts of the audience as we witness her rise from next-to-nothing in New York City.
Annie is determined to find her parents, who left her at the orphanage years ago. However, things don’t quite work out the way she has planned. She does however thwart the plans of Miss Hannigan (played by Bonnie-Marie Wetting), Rooster (Kael Mitchley) and Lily (Maia Patterson-Foster) and find a new family with billionaire Oliver Warbucks (Ryan Kennedy), secretary Grace Farrell (Branagh Overington), and her lovable pooch, Sandy (Halo).
Sing along to ‘The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow’, ‘It’s a Hard-Knock Life’, ‘Easy Street’ and more fabulous numbers.
"Best play I have been to. Absolutely blown away by the professionalism of everyone's performance. These kids clearly put a lot of time and effort into this production, and it truly does show."
Clear away your cobwebs and sorrows with Stage Door’s all-youth production!
