Stage Door Group Singing Class Tutor Emily Flynn is a qualified and experienced Secondary School Teacher, Hakomi Somatic Practitioner (Life Coach), and Psychotherapist Candidate with over 20 years of professional voice teaching, choral singing, and choral conducting experience under her belt.
As well as heading up the team at Stage Door, Trace is a regular tutor at the annual National Youth Drama School (NYDS), runs a private Singing Teaching studio, works professionally as a Performer, Musical Theatre Vocal Director and Performance Coach and is mum to two creative young ladies.
Trish has been involved in theatre in one way or another for more than 30 years. She is well known to Whakatane theatre audiences, having taken leading roles in many major local productions - including Evita, Les Miserables, Chicago, Annie, and The Addams Family - to name just a few.
Jessica Mordue joined the Stage Door - Performing Arts Academy Ltd team in 2018
She is highly skilled as an actress, experienced in contemporary, classical and musical theatre singing, and trained in jazz, ballet, tap dancing - Jess is a true ‘Triple Threat’ performer.
After her children joined Stage Door back in 2015, Jude was hooked, and Stage Door, theatre, and performing have since become a big part of the Jeffray household! Jude officially joined the Stage Door team in 2017. Although her children have flown the nest and gone on to study in the creative arts, Jude remains a valued member of the Stage Door team, running our accounts department.
Claire brings with her a wealth of experience and prowess as a former primary school teacher, charity sector worker and professional photographer. She has been a valued member of the Stage Door team since her family moved to Whakatane after many years living in Glasgow.
Simone became involved with Stage Door back in 2015 when her son's started Stage Door Musical Theatre Classes & has been sprinkling glitter around ever since! Simone has been involved in all areas at Stage Door, but as our costume lady extraordinaire, she can usually be found hidden away deep in our wardrobe store room or beavering away at her sewing machine.
Lily is no stranger to the stage - at just 6 years old she tackled the role of Molly in Theatre Whakatane’s 2015 production of ‘Annie’, and has never been far from the stage since - performing in countless concerts, shows and competitions.
McKenzie has grown up in and around the theatre, and Stage Door and has been a member of the Stage Door team since 2022. She is passionate about music, drama and performing and in her short years has amassed a wealth of theatre experience, both on and off the stage.
Adele a Whakatane based professional musician, music tutor and vocal director. She has been conducting Voices Community Choir for Stage Door since 2020 and regularly joins us in the role of Vocal Director for our Youth Productions
Evelyn has been a member of the Stage Door team since 2021. She is currently on long term maternity leave as she focuses on raising her two children. Evie has worked in our Preschool Class Twinklers and as the tutor in our Flamenco dance class. Trained both in dance and as a primary school teacher, and with ample experience performing on stage, and as a mum to her very own ‘Twinklers’ - Evelyn is the perfect tutor for both our Twinklers and Flamenco classes!
Sam McLeod joined the Stage Door team in 2024 as the tutor of our Musical Theatre Dance class. Sam is highly trained and experienced as a dancer and choreographer, but it is his passion for dance and storytelling through movement that make him a fabulous tutor!
