Zodiacs

Throughout the year our Zodiacs and Constellations students have been working on a number of different songs, which they will ultimately present at our Musical Theatre End of Year Showcase performances at the end of this term, on Saturday November 23rd 2024 (scroll down for more information about our 2024 Musical Theatre Showcase). 

TERM ONE SONG
Apex Predator - from the musical 'Mean Girls', written by Jeff Richmond
"Apex Predator" comes from the 2017 Broadway musical adaptation of Mean Girls. 
The musical is based on the 2004 film of the same name written by Tina Fey. The musical focuses on Cady Heron, a teenage girl who transfers to a public high school after being homeschooled her whole life in Africa. 
Cady's friends tell her that Regina George is a bad person as Cady recognizes all of the perks she gets from being in Regina's "pride". 

TERM TWO SONG #1
Revolution - from 'Love in Hate Nation' with music by Joe Iconis
Described as a turbulent rock romance set in a 1960s Juvie Hall, 'Love in Hate Nation' uses classic “bad girl” movies as the inspiration for the story of young people caught between eras of a changing America. Sixteen-year old Susannah Son is carted off to the National Reformatory for Girls to get her head put on straight. There she meets the aggressively incorrigible Sheila Nail, and a relationship forms which leads to an all-out “revolution in the institution” as they attempt to break out of the boxes society has created around them. 

TERM TWO SONG #2
When I Grow Up - from 'Matilda' with music by Tim Minchin
During Term Two all Musical Theatre Classes started work on our 2024 Musical Theatre Showcase Finale 'When I Grow Up'. This fun number was the first song that the composer wrote for the hit musical Matilda and speaks of the children's desire to grow up and make their own decisions. In it they imagine a time when they will be strong enough to carry the burdens forced upon them and to flush out monsters from under the bed. With over 100 students involved, we look forward to all of our Musical Theatre Classes combining together to perform this song as our 2024 Showcase Finale Song!

TERM THREE SONG
Heart of Stone - from 'Six' with music by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss
This beautiful song comes from the 2017 British pop musical comedy Six. 
Six is a modern retelling of the lives of the six wives of Henry VIII, presented in the form of a singing competition. In the show, the wives (Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr) take turns telling their story to determine who suffered the most from their shared husband, but ultimately seek to reclaim their individual identities and rewrite their stories. In the musical our song 'Heart of Stone' is Jane Seymours big solo.
