Stage Door are excited to announce ‘Aladdin’ as our 2023 all-youth production!
Rangatahi from across the district will come together to tell the story of Aladdin!
Aladdin is a lovable street urchin who meets Princess Jasmine, the beautiful daughter of the sultan of Agrabah. While visiting her exotic palace, Aladdin stumbles upon a magic oil lamp that unleashes a powerful, wisecracking, larger-than-life genie. As Aladdin and the genie start to become friends, they must soon embark on a dangerous mission to stop the evil sorcerer Jafar from overthrowing young Jasmine's kingdom.
Our all-youth production has a huge selection of on-stage parts up for grabs, ranging from featured roles to ensemble parts for orphans, servants, and tourists. Off-stage in our youth production crew there will be a variety of youth positions available, from set design to lighting, marketing and more. Our youth Heads of Department will be mentored by an adult with a high level of skill, experience, and expertise.
We welcome young people aged 7 – 14 years from across the Eastern Bay of Plenty to get involved, grow their love of and experience in the performing arts and enjoy being part of the awesome team bringing ‘Annie Junior’ to life on the Whakatāne Little Theatre stage.
Auditions will take place on 18 & 19 March 2023 with rehearsals starting in April.
Our 10-show performance season will run from 21 July to 6 August.
