TERM FOUR
Classes
We have a marvellous bunch of students in our Starlets class this year.
We love to see our young ones growing in confidence, making friends, learning songs and having fun together!
Each week our Starlets students join together with the Sparklers Class for a combined physical and vocal warm up.
This is an important time for us to connect with friends and get our voices, bodies and minds ready for class.
Throughout the year our Starlets will work on four different songs, which they will ultimately present at our Musical Theatre End of Year Showcase performances at the end of this term on Saturday November 23rd 2024 (scroll down for more information about our 2024 Musical Theatre Showcase).
TERM ONE SONG
Oompa Loompa - from Wonka, written by Leslie Bricusse, Anthony Newley
The iconic song of the Oompa Loompas chocolatiers originally appeared in the 1971 film 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory'. Our Starlets are going to have great fun with this song which was recently given a new lease on life (and a new set of lyrics!) when Hugh Grant performed it in the 2023 film 'Wonka'.
TERM TWO SONGS
1. Cover Me In Sunshine - written by Allen and Mozella
This hit pop song is sung by American singer, songwriter Pink and her daughter Willow Sage Hart. Written during 2021 when most of the world was in lock down due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the song is about staying positive in spite of the troubles around us.
For this fun number our Starlets will be joining up with some of our senior students.
2. Showcase Finale: When I Grow Up - from Matilda, The Musical, by Tim Minchin
During Term Two all Musical Theatre Classes started work on our 2024 Musical Theatre Showcase Finale 'When I Grow Up'. This fun number was the first song that the composer wrote for the hit musical Matilda and speaks of the children's desire to grow up and make their own decisions. In it they imagine a time when they will be strong enough to carry the burdens forced upon them and to flush out monsters from under the bed. With over 100 students involved, we look forward to all of our Musical Theatre Classes combining together to perform this song as our 2024 Showcase Finale Song!
TERM THREE SONG
Blame It On The Boogie - by the Jackson Five
This fun upbeat disco song was released in 1978 by English singer-songwriter Mick Jackson, and was then made famous by the Jackson Five.
Song lyrics and practice tracks for all Starlets songs can be downloaded from this webpage for practicing at home. Click on the song title listed on the right hand side of the page, under Resources (above the tutor pics) to access these.
