Monday (timing tbc), 60 min - $165 per term at Stage Door Studios


A 60 min group singing class for High School aged students.

Stage Door's Ultimo Group Singing Class will see students dive into essential skills like sight-singing and music theory alongside learning rewarding and more challenging pieces of music. Through lively lessons, students will explore musical notation, key signatures, time signatures, intervals, and harmonies. The class will sing a variety of repertoire, taking into account the interests of the group. New and more challenging repertoire will boost vocal technique and musical expression, all while preparing singers to take their voices to the next level.

Suitable for all ability levels, students will work on a number of songs each term, with a focus on developing good singing technique, harmony work, musical knowledge, perfecting songs together in a group situation and having fun!

Students rehearse towards Singing Recitals in the middle and at the end of the year.

Important Notices for Ultimo

TERM ONE

During Term One our focus for all of Stage Door's school aged classes is on establishing connections and creating a safe and fun classroom environment where we hope our students will be able to relax, have fun and grown in confidence and skill throughout the year. We take time to get to know each other, play games and invest in activities designed to promote connection, team work and fun. We find that doing this at the start of the year is absolutely vital to establishing a class culture and environment inline with our tag line that Stage Door is a place "Where Everyone Belongs". 

Throughout the year our Ultimo Group Singing Class will work on developing their vocal technique and growing in confidence as they sing different songs. Ultimately, students will perform songs at our Mid Year and End of  Year Recitals (scroll down for more information about our 2025 Recitals). 

Students are asked to keep an eye on this page, where updates, practice resources and homework notes will be regularly added throughout the year.

2025 Recitals


SAVE THE DATES!
Throughout the year our Group Singing Classes will take part in two public Recital Performances - one mid year, and the other at the end of the year. The Recitals will be held at Stage Door Studios and give students the chance to prepare for, and perform in front of an audience, and show whānau and friends what they have been working on during classes. 

Stage Door's 2025 Recitals are scheduled for the following dates: 
* Mid Year Singing Recital - Friday, June 13, from 6pm
* End of Year Singing Recital - Friday, December 12, from 6pm

CLASS NAME MEANING
All of our Group Singing Classes are named after a musical term. 
More often than not, directions regarding the volume, speed and style of a piece of music are given in Italian. ‘Ultimo’ is no different

In English, ‘Ultimo’ translates to ‘Last’ - an apt class name for our oldest school aged singers.

When Stage Door first introduced Group Singing Classes to our offering back in 2015 we had three classes running: 
- Our youngest class (‘Prima’, or ‘First’);
- Our middle class (‘Mezzo’ or ‘Middle’), and;
- Our oldest class - the Ultimos
